Literacy program

Aim

Sr Rosanna looks after Mangyans children (marginalized ethnicity) in their first years of studying. She firstly did a work of  persuasion toward their parents, in order to make them understand the importance of instruction and training in their sons’ future. Secondly she looked for the children to register in the school. Instruction will give them the possibility to create a dignified future, opened to the sharing, but they will also have the opportunity and the ability to help the others to grow up and become concious of the possibilities given by the training.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries are Mangyans children. Their difficult life conditions make them very weak: the hard insecurity of food brings to high rates of malnutrition and to precarious sanitary conditions. The nutritional state of the children costantly risks  to become worse by periodical crises of lack of food, while the access to a basic social service is rare. Finally, they are also forced to work, in order to contribute to the familiar maintenance.
