A big dream

Hello everyone, my name is C. and I have a great dream, a special dream: to build a real house for my mom.
My family lives in Paclolo, a village on the island of Mindoro. Adults say it’s a high-risk place.
I don’t know what it means, maybe it’s because it’s a bit dangerous: there are soldiers who beat people, they take the girls away and they make wars with the rebels. Sometimes they sentence someone to death: they say that he has been a spy.
Sometimes my mom says that being a spy is a way to get money. We don’t have much money.
The father works in the fields like many other fathers and many children and many mothers. But he doesn’t always work. When he is not working and he is not sick he is always with his friend Alcohol. Mom says Alcohol is a bad friend and makes dad feel bad. Dad says he needs it even though he’s always sick.
Once I went to school, but then my mother couldn’t pay for everything and so she asked me to work with her.
I would like to study to find a real job and to give my mom a home and my dad some care.
I promised my mom that if she manages to send me to school I wake up every morning before the sun and I help her to work. All time. But mom doesn’t know if she can. She then asked the sisters for help and they said that perhaps someone, in a very distant place called “Another continent”, might decide to help me if I tell this story. I hope that the nun is right and that someone will help me to realize my dream.
