Post Covid handcraft activities in Colombia
Referent: Julian P.
STARTING YEAR: 2021
CODE: AS 431
Aim
The project aims to restore some handcraft activities blocked by the forced interruption of any work involving contact with the public. In this way many families already poor have seen to close the small gain that these jobs allowed. With the local manager of Via Pacis and the social and religious bodies of the area, four types of intervention have been planned for the recovery of this small economy.
Beneficiaries
32 families for a total of approx. 190 people (including many children) will have the opportunity to access one of the following activities:
- Purchase of carts, pots, ovens, stoves and raw materials: tools for the street sale of food;
- Purchase of equipment (drills, saws, welders, miter saws, ovens, food display cases, fryers and so on) and furniture: repair of tools and machinery, tailoring, shoe making, serving meals;
- Purchase of pressure washers, portable washing machines, aspirators, spray guns and so on: these are works to be carried out at the customers’ home;
- Purchase of animals (chickens and pigs), feed and veterinary products: through the purchase of animals 7 families are supported by selling meat, chicks and farm products (eggs).
All these activities were already carried out by the heads of the families before the lockdown but, with this project, they will have new material and greater initial investment available.
When the activities are well established, the beneficiaries will make a contribution to start similar works for other families.
